TONAWANDA, NY (October 25) – Today, Damon Piatek, President & CEO of Welke Customs Brokers USA, based in the City of Tonawanda, was honored by Business First with a C-Level Award. The C-Level Awards, held on Thursday, October 25 at Salvatore’s Italian Gardens, honored 21 top executives in the Buffalo Niagara region.
“It was a tremendous honor to be recognized by Business First, and especially with the other executives who I was privileged to share the stage with,” said Piatek. “I want to thank my team at Welke USA, without whom we could not have achieved the level of success we have over the years, and my wife and family for their support of my entrepreneurial spirit.”
As Welke Customer Brokers USA celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2018, Damon has, in ten years, taken his company in an industry that is largely seen as a commodity and positioned it as a customer-centric resource for importers. Welke’s growth – the company processed its 100,000th entry into the U.S. this year, and facilitated approximately $300MM in imported goods into the U.S. in 2017 – is a testament to that approach. Welke opened a Cleveland office in Sept. 2016, with an eye on additional cities in the near future. While technology allows Welke USA to serve every port-of-entry in the U.S. from their City of Tonawanda HQ, Damon’s hands-on approach to customer service has created demand in markets across the country.
