TONAWANDA, NY (October 15) – Welke Customs Brokers USA is expanding into the Pittsburgh and NY/NJ markets, Welke USA President & CEO Damon Piatek announced Tuesday morning. The expansion broadens Welke USA’s service area, with offices now in four markets – Buffalo (HQ), Cleveland, Pittsburgh and the NY/NJ Metro Area.
“After several years working in Northeast Ohio, and learning the ins-and-outs of a successful market entry in the field of Customs brokerage, we feel Welke USA is in a good spot to begin to implement what will ultimately be a nationwide strategy,” said Piatek. “We’re excited to start in Pittsburgh and New York/New Jersey, which we’ve chosen because of existing relationships, their regional economic momentum and having identified significant opportunities in the import market.”
Welke USA, which celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2018, is headquartered in the City of Tonawanda, and opened its Cleveland office in 2016. In addition to providing trade consulting, compliance and cargo insurance, Welke annually supports more than $350,000,000 in import activity, clearing freight landing in all U.S. ports-of-entry. Welke USA’s two newest offices are the first steps in an aggressive expansion strategy over the next several years.
“Our experience with our expansion to Cleveland and the Northeast Ohio market has paved the way for Welke USA to begin looking aggressively toward the other importing markets on our list – you’ll see things happening much more quickly now, because we’re ready, and the demand exists,” Piatek said. “Everywhere we go, we’re finding a need for U.S. Customs brokers and trade advisors who can not only provide great service on import processes, but who are true partners in trade, focused on their clients’ long-term growth.”
Welke USA’s expansion into Pittsburgh and the NY/NJ markets includes new office locations and local sales representatives. Central operations will continue at Welke USA’s headquarters in the City of Tonawanda.
