Due to a protest by Mexican and U.S. truckers at the Port of Hidalgo/Pharr, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said commercial traffic currently cannot be processed at the port.
Protesting Mexican and U.S. carriers say they want to meet with representatives from the Texas Department of Public Safety and Governor Abbott to voice their concerns.
Meanwhile, CBP’s Business Resumption Contingency Plan is now in place and the surrounding ports are receiving diverted truck shipments, the agency said. Those ports include Brownsville, Progreso, Rio Grande, Roma, Laredo, Eagle Pass, and Del Rio. The Port of Laredo’s Colombia Solidarity Bridge continues to have Texas Department of Public Safety increased safety inspections outside the cargo commercial facility which will impact the flow of trade.
